Thecus N5550 е мултимедийно NAS устройство с Intel Atom процесор за тиха работа без вентилатор и гнезда за 5 SATA диска. Освен традиционните storage функции, този модел предлага и още много допълнителни възможности - разполага с HDMI / VGA изходи, така че може да се свърже директно с компютърен монитор или HD дисплей, разполага с микрофонен вход и аудио изходи.
Наличен е USB 3.0 супербърз порт за трансфер на данни, eSATA порт за свързване на външен диск, както и гъвкави средства за архивиране на данни и отдалечен достъп през Интернет, вкл. със смартфони.
Може да изпълнява ролята на web/ftp сървър, медиа плейър и дори може да му се инсталира ТВ тунер и клавиатура и мишка - на практика самото устройство може да се използва като самостоятелен компютър
Устройството притежава сертификати за съвместимост с виртуализационните платформи на VMware и Citrix.
